A ONE. BORN IN BELGIUM.
MADE IN SWITZERLAND.
When Denis Van Esser started his activity as a jeweler 40 years ago, he did not yet know that years later he would take his profession to the watchmaking industry and make his passion for watches by come to life by creating his own exclusive model.
The adventure was however predestined since his first professional experience was in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the capital of fine watchmaking in Switzerland. It is therefore natural that the temptation to create his own watch model took hold and became a reality in 2002.
All clarity, solidity and elegance, the Van Esser A One Automatic has not changed one iota in its 20 years of existence. Designed according to the principles of Form Follows Function and No Nonsense, the watch remains unique. Its round steel case, 38 mm or 34 mm in diameter, with an asymmetric thickness thinner at 6 o'clock than at 12 o'clock, houses a Swiss Made ETA 2824/2 movement. It is topped by a sloping black dial - due to the asymmetry of the case - which makes it easy to read.
All in white, its hour and minute hands hover over index markers of the same color crossing a graduated railroad track ajoining the inner perimiter of the bezel. A few touches of vermillion red brighten up the whole: the small A on top of the double index marker at noon, the 1 o'clock marker topped by a ONE and the second hand. A magnifying glass in the sapphire crystal enlarges the date at 3 o'clock and a buffalo leather strap attached to the case's prominent lugs wraps the watch around the wrist, at once formal, casual and sporty.
The A One is now also available in rose gold and in a two-tone version - steel and rose gold - possibly set with diamonds on the bezel or on the entire case and dial.
